What Is A Combination Panel? What Is Its Importance?
Electrical equipment and machines require
defined functions and orderly control to achieve their various process goals.
Electrical control panels carry out these functions within manufacturing
equipment.
In simple words, a combination panel is an electrical control panel of different electrical devices
that use power to control various mechanical functions of industrial equipment
or machinery. An electrical control panel includes two main categories: panel
structure and electrical components.
Benefits of having a
combination panel
True to their name, these units combine
several systems in an enclosure, sharing common PCB boards and a single
controlling firmware. Combination
panels typically combine two or more of the following:
- Intrusion
(burglar) Alarms
- Fire
Detection (smoke/waterflow/heat) Alarms
- Access
Control
- Video
Surveillance: Some panels integrate cameras into the panel for small-scale
monitoring and recording
- Building
Management: Thermostats, lighting controls, and water leak detection are
becoming common additions to multifunction systems.
These systems are typically for smaller
deployments. With everything combined into one box, the total number of sensors
is often capped and the management capabilities are limited to simple
commands.
Another plus point is this helps to increase
the resale value of your house, if you install it in your home.
While selling a home you may not get an asking
price, if potential buyers notice there are too many updates needed to justify
your home value. Replacing your entire electrical combination panel helps you
to build confidence in front of the buyer.
Combination panels are often less expensive to purchase and install than stand-alone systems. As they are oriented towards the small/medium market, they often can be 'pre-programmed before installation with a template program rather than 'scratch programmed' on site. Because the total population of devices and/or alarm zones is lower, installation takes less time and effort.
